Comox Valley Search & Rescue is a fantastic and diverse group of volunteers who come from all walks of life. CVSAR volunteer for different reason and all pursue a variety of hobbies and occupations outside of SAR, but they all have one common goal, helping those in need when it matters most. What do you do outside of SAR for work/hobbies?
What is your role in SAR?
I have been in SAR for a little over 5 years, involved in general team work and operations as are all members. Also a Ground Search Team Leader, Advanced First Aider, Rope Rescue Team Member, Hoist Technician, Swiftwater Rescue Technician, and Avalanche Team Member.
What makes you passionate about SAR?
People that get lost or hurt in the wilderness need help, often times we are the only resources available and able to help them. This particularly applies to the mountainous areas of our response area. If we didn’t come to help, who else would?
What’s been the most rewarding part of being a part of SAR?
